‘The Secret’ Motivates, Provokes Thought

Filed under: Personal Development, Business Education, Training Opportunities, Blogroll — Donna Brown @ 1:20 pm

Once in awhile we have to just stop. I know it and yet, it’s so hard to do.

Recently I begrudgingly pulled an old soft blanket off the shelf, popped a bag of popcorn, plugged a movie into the DVD player and gave way to my aching muscles and aging body. I had to take a quick look around to make sure it was true. I was alone. All alone. Better yet, I was all alone with the family television and had complete control of the remote.

  • Dishwasher running? Check.
  • Fresh load of laundry set? Check.
  • Garden watered? Check.
  • Lawn mowed? Check.
  • Kids accounted for? Check.
  • Horses fed? Check.
  • Cats/dogs watered and fed? Check.
  • Telephone turned off? Check.
  • Doors locked? Check.

I pushed “play” on the DVD remote and felt like a child indulging some delightful whim as the movie I’d been dying to see for months began to roll.

I had heard mumblings about “The Secret” for quite some time before I finally took the time to snuggle up in my basement family room to see what the fuss was all about.

Frankly, I expected good information. I did not expect the movie to be life-changing. But, for me, it was. I had heard of the “Law of Attraction” and am a great advocate of “positive thinking” and believe whole-heartedly that we are the “creators of our own destiny.” But never before had I seen all of these beliefs packaged so neatly, so creatively and so completely with such simplicity. I actually found myself laughing and clapping under a blanket on the couch.

  • Curtains closed? Check.

You can learn more about, “The Secret” at http://thesecret.tv/. If you are looking for a boost in your confidence, faith restored, personal empowerment — I beseech you — watch this production!

I would love to hear what you have to say. Let’s explore the possibilities together.

  1. I agree whole-heartedly that this is a great video and concept. As a therapist (in my other life) I see the power of positive (and negative)thinking. In our new business, my wife and I have been greatly blessed and cursed by the law of attraction. At first our insecurities got the best of us and we really struggled and almost quit. We watched “The Secret” video and received some other great advice and support. That was the turning point. We started giving to charity, having a more positive/hopeful outlook, joined the Chamber and things have really started taking off. Sure, some days are still a struggle but we have landed some great deals and made some wonderful friends along the way. We’re not quite through our first year but we are looking forward to many years to come. Thanks Donna and others for your support, advice and encouragement!

  2. After watching The Secret, I realized that I’ve been using the law of attraction in my own life for some time, but perhaps not to the fullest potential. I’ve seen things come about, come into my life, just by believing in it, reaching for it and feeling as if I already have it.

I imagined being published long before I had a book in print. I imagined the feelings I would have when that day came and when it really happened it was as if I’d experienced it before, and the gratitude doubled. I used the law of attraction in so many areas of my life, but after watching The Secret, decided to “up” my goals.

I set a goal to visit Samoa … Everything fell into place! The tickets are purchased and passports are on the way!

I decided to reach #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List … Everything is going according to plan and the bestselling novel is being written as you read this. Don’t worry, I’ll let the world know when it’s official. For now, I enjoy the feelings of having seen my book on the bestseller list.

Oh, one more thing … I was doing a search one day for The Secret on YouTube, checking out inspirational videos, when I ran into a site called MindMovies.com. They’ve taken the vision board to the next level, teaching people to put their goals into a movie. Well, I did it! It’s so great to sit down and refocus after a long day. You’re all welcome to check my movie out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEBUT4_9fEk

  3. Donna,

At my last family reunion, the question was asked about what our favorite movie is? My response, “I don’t know. There are too many I like.” After some discussion amongst the family, they helped me realize that my favorite movies or shows are those that leave me with excitement and motivation pounding in my heart.

I’m excited to follow your recommendation and watch “The Secret”. The trailor left me a little confused regarding the story line. History mixed with the modern world…sounds promising.

I also enjoyed reading Robyn’s post and watching her video. I believe in the law of attraction and good things happen to good people. I mean, why wait for someone else to give you a boost when you can do it yourself.
